LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSES

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.  This course does not include any review of swimming skills.  We offer private swim lessons for those who feel they need a refresher of the skills required to participate in the ARC Lifeguard program.


Lifeguard Swim Test

Mandatory swim test for anyone interested in registering for the ARC Lifeguard Training course or recertification.  See our Course Brochure for details of the test.

Participants who successfully pass this test will be able to register for Lifeguard Training. Those who do not pass are eligible to sign up for any other lifeguard swim test time at no charge.

Lifeguard Training

This leadership course includes lifeguarding techniques, First Aid, CPR and AED procedures. Must have successfully passed the Lifeguard Swim Test (See above listing.) prior to registering. See our Course Brochure for details.

Minimum 8 Participants/Maximum 12

Lifeguard Recertification

This course is for former lifeguards who wish to re-certify without a full review. In this course each participant must pass the CPR/FPR Challenge, score 80% or higher on the 50 question Lifeguard Training written exam and demonstrate properly all Lifeguard skills. Bring CPR masks and manuals to this course.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer

This class teaches those with a duty to respond the skills needed to respond to respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Certification good for one year. Bring current LG CPR/FPR certification card, CPR mask and manual.

REFUND POLICY

Classes not meeting minimum number of participants will be rescheduled. 35% of the program cost will be deducted for cancellations made less than two weeks in advance of the start of the course.
