TeamONE Volleyball 15 Black played for 3 full days in San Antonio at their famous MLK Tournament this last weekend. The girls took 4th place out of the 22 teams that came from around the state of Texas. We are so proud of them!!
The trainers here at the Athletic Club are taking TeamONE Volleyball players through XT Training twice a week. One of the reasons these girls could play for 3 full days was because of the XT Training they are receiving from the trainers at the Kingwood Athletic Club. XT makes these athletes faster and stronger as well as more confident on the volleyball court. As the season progresses, they are going to be in top condition to play for a longer periods of time because of the personalized XT Training they are receiving.

When I moved back to the Kingwood area two years ago I joined KAC to be able to play tennis. I played several times a week and thought it was enough exercise for me to lose weight and keep fit. Never once thought about using the facility to participate in other things like actually using the equipment or taking any of the classes until June 8th of this year. I finally made the decision to start working out with a personal trainer. But to get to that point it took me several conversations with Maribel. She explained to me what I could do to help myself lose weight and tone my body. One of the points that she always told me was that I had to be the one to make the decision to make the change. We visited many times and I always felt I needed to start taking care of myself. I realized that I am getting older and my body is changing in so many ways.
On Jan. 2nd, I started a weight loss program on my own and the following Tuesday I walked into the club to begin what has been a huge difference in my life. I worked out two times a week with Maribel and told her I would weigh and do measurements every six weeks. After the first six weeks I felt like I hadn’t lost any weight or tone my body in any way. In my frustration I felt like I was wasting my time and money. To my surprise the day Maribel weighed and measured me I had lost seven pounds and a total of three inches. No one could take away the smile off my face or the accomplishment I felt. I was so excited!! Maribel told me I would get hooked on working out and now that is my new Diet Coke for the day. I am hooked!!! My only problem now is that I have bad knees so now we do a pool routine for my knees. But I also get in the gym for my upper body workout. I still enjoy going to the club and meeting with Maribel even after nine months! I am down a size and a half in my clothes and feel so much better physically and mentally.

I've been training for about 10 weeks and have lost 22 lbs and and gone from 27% to 18% body fat. I feel stronger and in better shape then I've ever been. I began this journey by joining the Kingwood Athletic Club to lose weight and get in better shape. After a few months, I felt like I needed more and decided to try working with a personal trainer. I didn’t know what to expect. I had never had a gym membership before, much less had my own personal trainer.
My trainer is Amy Metts. At the onset of my sessions with her I was at one of the lowest points in my life. I was unhappy with my weight, physical health and appearance.
After the first couple of sessions with Amy, she mad me feel completely comfortable with her and with what I was trying to do. Working out was difficult at first, but Amy is a motivator and she helps me stay focused and dedicated. Without her positive attitude and motivation, I don’t know if I would still be working as hard as I do today to reach my goal. I still have a ways to go, but just knowing that she is in my corner and encouraging me keeps me going.
Amy is very passionate about her career and knowledgeable about it as well. She knows my strengths and weaknesses and targets them accordingly to achieve the best possible workouts.
Amy does not hesitate to share her own issues with weight and how she overcame it. I personally appreciate that and draw strength and motivation for myself by what she has accomplished.
On a personal note: Amy has a friendly and caring personality. She also has a good sense of humor. A few laughs shared can make a tough workout that much more enjoyable.
My experience with Amy has been amazing. I have learned from her that the keys to success along my journey are determination, motivation, and mind set, and patience, patience, patience. The decision to work with a personal trainer has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Would I recommend Amy Metts? In a heartbeat! She has been and will continue to be an inspiration to me along my personal journey.
