Postpartum Personal Fitness Training

The nine months of pregnancy causes many bodily changes—and likewise the postpartum period as the body gradually returns to normal. During this postnatal period, a period of approximately six weeks, new moms have many concerns. They may be eager to lose leftover “baby fat” or firm up tummy muscles. They may also have other special concerns that can be addressed through exercise. At KAC, postpartum fitness training is available to members as well as non-members. Like prenatal training, postpartum training emphasizes safe, effective exercise including for moms who are nursing or who have had a Cesarean delivery. It addresses the needs and goals of each woman and includes a thorough, pre-exercise assessment, subsequent exercise prescription and one-on-one training for cardio/aerobic fitness, weight loss/weight management, core exercise, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and corrective exercise for muscle imbalances.

Postpartum fitness training is offered by Peg O’Malley, B.S., Exercise Physiology and Health. Peg is the mother of five and a former La Leche League (LLL) leader.
