Prenatal Personal Fitness Training
In 2002 the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issued new guidelines regarding exercise during the nine months of pregnancy thus lifting many of the previous restrictions. KAC now offers personal, prenatal fitness guidance and training to members as well as non-members. Emphasis is on safe, effective exercise that addresses the special needs and goals of each woman. Because each pregnancy is different and brings with it an abundance of bodily changes, prenatal exercise training can help build confidence. Careful attention is given to the pre-exercise health assessment and to the subsequent exercise prescription and one-on-one training—training that includes cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, posture and balance, corrective exercise for muscle imbalances, and flexibility including for labor and delivery.
Prenatal fitness training is offered by Peg O’Malley, B.S., Exercise Physiology and Health. Peg is the mother of five and a former La Leche League (LLL) leader.
