Beginner Triathlon Training
Have you ever wanted to do a triathlon but did not know how to begin the process? Then our beginner triathlon training series is for you. This training series is broken up into eight training sessions to lay down the principles of triathlon training and ends with a sprint triathlon.
Session One will be a submaximal assessment of your current fitness level to basically see just how well your aerobic engine is running. Additionally, body composition and other physical assessment tests will be done to establish protocols so that proper training can begin.
Session Two and Three will be used to test your anaerobic threshold and establish resistance training protocols for the bike and the run.
Sessions Four and Five will be used to test your VO2 max (treadmill) and resistance training protocols for the swim.
Session Six will be a continuation of Sessions Two through Five to complete the resistance training protocols for all three events (swim , bike, and run).
Session Seven will be used to establish the nutrition principles needed for successful triathlon training.
Session Eight will be an individual sprint triathlon held right here at KAC. A 200 yard swim, 6 mile bike ride and a 2 mile run await you to put you through your “triathlon paces.” This is designed to be a fun event and you will really only be competing against yourself
