Xplosive Training "XT"
Kingwood Athletic Club is excited to offer our XT program to children and student athletes!
1. Who participates?
Nationally accredited Personal Trainers, certified in the XT process as well as CPR, train children ages 8-18. Children can participate as individuals, in groups or teams.
2. What happens during the 45-55 minute training?
For the child training sessions utilize the absolute newest forms of sport technology and focus on speed, agility and balance. XT workouts ask the child to perform at 90% of their best effort for 6-7 increments. This type of effort, is typically out of their “comfort” zone, but the child is watched closely by the XT Trainers to ensure every degree of safety and also that the child is enjoying their XT experience.
3. When should my child participate in XT?
Children can participate in XT in and out of season because XT is a complement to their sport specific training no matter what time of the year. During season your child may develop a dominant side from the constant use of that sport-specific skill, XT will ensure your child re-balances and then is able to move more efficiently; jumping higher, running faster and moving explosively. Out-of-season, XT will assist your child in staying interested during the monotony of “conditioning” and enhance their ability to easily step back into their sport when the season begins.
4. Why should my child participate in XT?
Sport specific skills tend to occupy the majority of practice time. Conditioning normally occupies the rest. But research shows us that the speeds under which athletes learn, and the speed of conditioning, are not conducive to explosive movement.
Most young athletes run in a natural fashion. But running fast is not naturally learned, but taught. An educated and properly coached athlete is ultimately faster than an un-coached athlete.
Most importantly XT is fun! Many young athletes spend so much time practicing that they fail to have fun. XT was designed to create excellence while encouraging a sense of play. Kids love and ask for the program because it is like playing tag or duck-duck-goose, tons of fun but loaded with exercise.
Xplosive Training, XT, addresses these challenges: Certified XT Specialists are specifically educated in proper athletic movement. Because our Specialists are free from coaching individual athletic skill sets, they can focus 100% of their energy on assisting the athlete in understanding correct running form and lateral movement.
